This Wed April 15th Costa Rica registered its fourth death to Covid-19, this time, the deceased was an 84-year-old man who was in the intensive care unit of the San Juan de Dios Hospital in San José.

The senior citizen had been hospitalized since April 1st and had high blood pressure as an underlying condition.

The three previous deaths were two 87-year-old men that both had previous underlying health conditions and a 45-year-old man who had no underlying conditions.

The country has also confirmed the death of 4 other Costa Ricans due to the virus in the United States, the latest one was a man only  30 years of age. Just a few days back on April 10 a 54-year-old man passed away at the Hoboken Medical Center in New Jersey; a 24-year-old who passed away on March 14th in Salt Lake City, Utah and a 68-year-old who passed on April 1st in New York.

In total, this Wednesday, the Ministry of Health reported a total of 626 patients positive for Covid-19, 302 women and 342 men. 67 people have recovered while 16 remain hospitalized 11 of them in intensive care.

So far this week the number of new patients confirmed as infected has remained relatively low, which has been attributed  to the fact that during Holy Week the restrictions were much more strict throughout the country.
