Yep, we’re all on this Trump Train whether we like it or not — bumpy ride and all. Say goodbye to normal, because the new normal is now the controversial, the charismatic, the one-and-only President Donald J. Trump. We can expect the unexpected at every turn. It’s easy to switch off TV news, social media and not know what’s happening around you, but you can’t. Some of us peer through our fingers with apprehension at the TV screen as if we can’t handle the truth, but we can’t look away.
The new Trump administration will be tested from day one. If Trump’s transition from a private citizen — who never held an elected office — to 45th President of the United States is any indication of the Democrats’ willingness to work with Trump there will be no honeymoon. The Democrats are digging in for the long haul to oppose Trump, his people and his agenda every step of the way. There’s even talk of former First Lady Michelle Obama running for president in 2020. First Bill and Hillary refused to go away and now the Obama’s are taking their place. Oh boy, some things just go on and on.
Former President Obama can’t wait to start the speaking tours, rake in millions in easy money and perhaps start a non-profit foundation to stash all that money in. The Clintons taught him how. And don’t forget that $20 million advance for President Obama’s first book and First Lady Michelle Obama gets another $10 million or so for her’s.
Back to reality, Trump’s new press secretary Sean Spicer is floating a few new ideas regarding changes to how the White House Press Corps covers President Trump.
According to Spicer, the White House Press Corps and Press Room may leave the West Wing of the White House for a larger space allowing access to Trump’s Press Office by many more members of the worldwide media, which would undoubtedly clip the wings of the mainstream American media who has been hostile to Trump ever since he first announced his intention to seek the presidency. The current White House Press Room only has 49 seats, then its standing room only. It’s being suggested to relocate the Press Corps in the Old Executive Office Building next door to the West Wing, which would remove the media from the White House altogether.
When word of the proposed changes came to light, the White House Press Corps loudly objected to any changes to the present press briefing room and who gets a seat.
“The press went crazy, so I said, ‘Let’s not move it,’ but some people in the press will not be able to get in,” Trump said Wednesday in a televised interview on FOX News. “We have so many people that want to get in. So we’ll just have to pick the people to go into the room. I’m sure other people will be thrilled about that. But we offered a much larger room because we need a much larger room and we offered to do that, but they went crazy. And they’ll be begging for a much larger room very soon, you watch.”
The White House starting Friday at 12 noon will be President Trump’s private home and he can invite or disinvite anyone he pleases and that includes members of the media.
Even during President-elect Trump’s campaign and transition period he did not allow the White House Press Corps on his private airplane. Now that he’s President Trump his private airplane is Air Force One and the White House Press Corps may be searching the want ads for an airplane and flight crew in order to follow Trump around the world.
Don’t forget for a minute that Trump ran against all the Democrats, most of the media, most of the Republicans and still won the presidency despite everything negative thrown at him because the working-tax-paying- ‘Star Spangled Banner’- loving American people finally recognized the established entrenched government got little done in Washington at great expense to the tax payer.
And now more than 50 incumbent House Democrats have gone on record refusing to attend Trump’s inauguration. All of these House Democrats are up for reelection in 2018.
It’s a sure bet if Trump is successful in taking steps to ‘Make America Great Again’ we may all see the Democratic Party disintegrate before our very eyes.
