The second edition of the popular Art City Tour in its 2018 season will take place March 14 under the slogan “Chepe nos une” (Chepe unites us) (Chepe is the way Costa Ricans’ refer to the capital city of San Jose).

The free event will begin at 5 p.m. and conclude at 9 p.m. Remember these tours can be done by bus or foot.

“ ‘Chepe nos une’ is a metaphor that honors the dynamic of the city as a meeting point for the economic, social and political decisions that transcend for the entire country, the great generator of cultural offers, historical contact with tourism, the great urban opportunity and its social vibe”, stated Henry Bastos, director of GAM Cultural and its Art City Tour program .

This edition will offer two routes by foot and four routes by bus, as usual attendees visit different emblematic places in San Jose, Costa Rica; in this case for instance, the National Museum, the Central Bank Museums, the Museum of Art and Contemporary Design, Gallery Veinti4/Siete, among others.

The Museum of Art and Contemporary Design will have two exhibits, among them “Cuadra Cero” by artist Stephanie William, work that interprets the mechanisms through which Costa Rican history was designed.

Canadian artist Guy Delisle’s work will be showcased at the French Alliance; while “Festival of Minimal Actions” by German artist Thomas Geiger, will be in exhibit at Despacio Galeria, art gallery.

These are just a few of many art exhibits that attendees will be able to enjoy during this Art City Tour.

Art City Tours are organized with the purpose of introducing national and international visitors to some of the country’s most beautiful museums and different spaces of cultural importance in the middle of the capital city of San José.

July 11: Vacaciones en Chepe (Vacation in Chepe)
September 12: Chepe bajo la lluvia (Chepe under the rain)
November 16: Noche en Blanco, San Jose de día por una noche (Night in White, San Jose by day for one night).
