During a press conference today, Bayer announced the inauguration today of their new shared service center in Costa Rica, which will be providing 350 new jobs in the country.
The shared service center will provide accounting, business support and finance services to all Latin-America.

Erika Bernal, President of Bayer Central America and Caribbean, stated “We are celebrating 40 years of being in Costa Rica, and we are reaffirming our commitment and trust in Costa Rica by investing new resources, generating more jobs, innovating and diversifying our operations in the country. This is our fifth site in Costa Rica, we have in the country our regional headquarters for all Central America and the Caribbean (Escazu), we have a medical device plant which was inaugurated in 2015 (Heredia), we have an experimental center in Guápiles in the area of agriculture, and another center dedicated to cotton seeds (Liberia, Guanacaste)”.

Bayer will be investing in two more offices in addition to the ones inaugurated today and with an investment of close to $5 million, the new service center is located at the American Free Zone in Heredia.

Currently, Bayer has 500 workers in the country, when it first started in the country 40 years ago it had only 50 employees.

Xavier Campoy, general manager of the new service center, explained that the new office will require bilingual employees with different knowledge and levels of education, “Costa Rica knows how service centers work, they have managed to specialize in this industry and provide the tools to facilitate the process”.

Jorge Sequeira, general director of CINDE, emphasized the fact that the service sector finished 2017 with 60 thousand jobs, and added: “Companies like Bayer have managed to diversify their operations in the country, and now have manufacture and service operations, this thanks to the excellent results that they have achieved from the hand of Costa Rican human talent”.
