A boat carrying 1,410 kilograms of cocaine was intercepted in waters of the South Pacific of Costa Rica and three Colombian men were arrested.

The Costa Rican Coast Guard service had the assistance of the Colombian National Army, the authorities caught up with the vessel 13 nautical miles from Boca Chica, in the Terraba-Sierpe Wetland area in Sierpe, Osa, Puntarenas, the boat was then transferred to the port of Quepos where the Drug Control Police carried out the search of official search and gathered necessary proofs.

The men aboard were identified with the last names Oliveros, 38 years of age, Vallecilla, 43 and Quiñones, age 29.

In total 47 bags were counted, each containing 30 packets weighing approximately 1 kilogram of the drug. The police also found a firearm, twelve containers, some of them with gasoline and others empty.

So far this year a total 27.5 tons of cocaine have been seized and 8.5 tons of marijuana.
