Rakul Preet is a famous Indian actress and model known for her participation in the Indian films Venkatadri Express (2013), Current Theega (2014) and Bruce Lee (2015), among others; she has over 7 million fans in Facebook an another million in Instagram; but in Costa Rica we know her because she chose to wear a gown by Costa Rican designer Rob Chamaeleo in the red carpet of the Indian Film Academy Awards Utsavam 2017, a ceremony considered the equivalent to the Oscar Awards of Bollywood.

Rob Chamaeleo is 26 years old, he studied fashion design in Italy and has had participation in the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, the Canada Fashion Week in Montreal and is also the director of the fashion design career at Universidad Creativa.

Chamaeleo means “Chameleon” in Latin. The brand had the opportunity before to dress Tisca Chopra, another Bollywood actress, and it was actually because of a post made by her that the Costa Rican designer had the opportunity to dress Preet. “Preet’s stylist saw the post Tisca made and fell in love with the brand, she contacted us and asked us to dress her client”, explained Chamaeleo to Traffic magazine.

Getting the dress to India was the difficult part, Indian customs offices have restrictions for textile products, and the dress ended up retained in customs through March 28th. The event was held March 29.

The young fashion designer hopes that this experience opens the doors to his brand and other designers in the country. “That they are interested in our designs is wonderful, I hope that we have the possibility of positioning ourselves in these market”, concluded Chamaeleo.
