New York, Aug 9 (EFE).– Berkshire Hathaway, the conglomerate controlled by billionaire Warren Buffett, is near a deal to acquire Precision Castparts for $30 billion, The Wall Street Journal reported.
The acquisition of Precision Castparts, a maker of parts for aircraft, electric utilities and the energy industry, could be announced this week, the Journal said, citing people familiar with the deal.
The purchase of the industrial company would be the biggest deal ever done by the legendary investor, known as the “Oracle of Omaha,” who regularly makes the lists of richest people in the world.
Buffett’s largest acquisition to date was the $26 billion purchase of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad in 2010.
As of March 30, Berkshire Hathaway owned a 3 percent stake in Precision Castparts, which was founded in 1949 in Portland, Oregon. EFE
