Chevening Scholarships are a global scholarship program of the United Kingdom, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organizations.

 

The Scholarships offer the opportunity to study for a one-year Master’s degree at any of the UK’s leading universities, and are awarded to outstanding established or emerging leaders across a wide range of fields including economics, business administration, international politics including human rights, engineering/science and technology and project and program management linked to infrastructure development.

 

The program also provides a unique opportunity for leaders of the future to build a global network of continuing professional significance and also to establish social, cultural, academic or commercial partnerships with the UK.

 

Applicants from Costa Rica can choose any course of study, but we particularly welcome applications in the following fields:

• Economics
• Business Administration
• International Politics including Human Rights
• Engineering/Science & Technology
• Programme and Project Management- linked to infrastructure development

 

A Chevening Scholarship in Costa Rica includes:

• a monthly stipend
• travel to the UK from your country at the beginning of your award
• travel from the UK back to your country at the end of your award
• an arrival and departure allowance
• a thesis or dissertation grant
• the cost of one visa application
• university tuition fees up to £12,000. If the tuition fees of your chosen university course exceed this amount, you will be required to fund the remainder of your tuition fees.

 

The Scholarships are an important element in Britain’s public diplomacy effort and bring young professionals, who have already displayed outstanding leadership talents, to study in the UK. The objective of the Chevening program is to support foreign policy priorities and achieve FCO objectives by creating lasting positive relationships with future leaders, influencers and decision-makers.

 

The Chevening program was established in 1983 and has developed into a prestigious international scheme. Chevening Scholars come from more than 150 countries and territories worldwide and this year the Scholarships will support more than 1500 individuals. There are over 43,000 Chevening alumni around the world who together comprise an influential and highly regarded global network.

 

Applications for a Chevening Scholarship must be submitted online at the Chevening website and the deadline for receipt of applications is 15 November at 23.59 GMT. Applications received after this date will not be processed.
