WELWYN GARDEN CITY, ENGLAND July 4th 2013 – Clamcleats Limited, a British manufacturer of its own brand of products, also employed for its molding and tooling services announces the opening of a new production facility in Cartago, Costa Rica in June.

Further to signing a contract to supply plastic injection molded components to a long-term customer in Costa Rica, the British company opened their new 850 sq. metres (9150 sq. feet) custom injection molding factory in Cartago’s Zona Franca Zeta in June 2013.

The facility has the latest injection molding and quality control equipment. It operates under the name IMATS – Injection Moulding and Tooling Services S.A. – and will employ between 20 and 30 people from the local area within the first year of activity.

Clamcleats Limited has over 45 years experience in tooling and molding parts in engineering plastics to withstand rugged environments and has been supplying Costa Rica with a growing number of components over the last 5 years. It was therefore a natural progression for the owners to invest in the creation of IMATS and the opening of the new factory

These new premises will reduce lead times and stock within the system and ease the development of new projects. IMATS is also looking to increase its customer base locally and in North America.

The IMATS factory is going to operate alongside Clamcleats Limited’s United Kingdom factory, resulting in a general increase in capacity which will allow both companies to take on new projects. The machinery sizes range from 22 to 320 tons capable of producing parts from 1g (0.035oz) to 1kg (2.2lbs). In addition to injection molding, the company offers complete project management from tooling and engineering to secondary operations such as product printing.
