Canelo vs. GGG was a highly expected fight that didn’t disappoint, but in the contrary, fulfilled the fans’ expectations from beginning to end; two warriors that stepped into the ring and gave it heart and soul.

From the moment the bell rang both fighters exchanged punches and looked for the knockout. The first few rounds showed a superior Canelo that moved well and kept Triple G at a safe distance while also looking for the fight.

Triple G managed to set his pace in the middle rounds, stalking his prey and pushing him to the ropes to try to do what he is used to doing, cornering his opponent and finishing with a knockout, but that moment never came, Canelo was able to use the ropes and kept shaking his head “no” every time Golokin landed as if to say he wasn’t feeling the punches; however, Golovkin was being effective and landing more than the Mexican idol.

The last three rounds Canelo seemed to remember that his game plan was in the middle of the ring and finally regained control of the fight landing several good punches.

This was the type of fight you cannot risk blinking or leaving your chair to get a refill of your drink, action in every single round, a sure candidate to Fight of the Year.

At the end the judges scored the fight: 115-113 Canelo, 115-113 GGG, and 114-114 Draw for a Split Decision Draw. Gennady gets to keep his belts and Canelo earned the respect of the attending audience. Neither of the fighters was happy with the judges’ decision, but fans were the true winners of this event.

“I wanted a true Mexican fight, I want to see the punch statistics, I won I kept my titles. I want the rematch”, commented GGG
