There is still not a specific date to begin the work, but the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation expects to have them ready by May, and has confirmed that as part of the works to extend the road San Jose-San Ramon, changes will be done to the accesses close to the Juan Santamaria Airport in Alajuela.

The plan was designed by the General Directorate of Transit Engineering, and will be executed by the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation (MOPT) , the National Council of Viability and the Alajuela Municipality.

Traffic lights will be eliminated, lanes will be extended and a new access will be created between the General Cañas highway and the city Rio Segundo, all with the purpose of alleviating the traffic in this area, explained German Valverde, Minister of Public Works.

New accesses will be created from the General Cañas to Rio Segundo after the local cemetery; another one will be done by the Parque del Agricultor going towards the sector known as El Cacique and finally right after Mango Plaza were an exit will be created towards the community of Invu-Las Cañas where drivers will be able to take the City Mall bridge.

In the Juan Santamaria Airport intersection extensions will be done taking space from the current islands. The road in front of the Fiesta Casino will also be extended to increase the traffic fluency, and close to this area the two traffic lights that allow access between Invu and the General Cañas highway to San Jose will be eliminated, therefore those that travel from Invu to San Jose must do so using the new access road.
