Indications are that the Chinese consortium Xinwei’s offer has the best fit for the requirements of the Nicaraguan Government to win award for the 1785-1805 megahertz band.
So stated the director of the Nicaraguan Institute for Telecommunications and Postal Services (Telcor), Orlando Castillo, referring to the proposal to provide mobile phone services and Internet access which was opened to public bidding last week.
“Castillo highlighted mostly what is called the ‘social component’ of the Chinese offer, which without going into details relates to rural telephony. ‘We want all our farmers to have a cell phone or have access to get one”, he said”, published Laprensa.com.ni
The director added that the process has not yet been awarded and that it will comply with all transparency standards so that the “best man may win.”
The segment is tender frequencies of 1785-1805 MHz of the 1800 MHz band.
