Santa Ana‘s new public recreational park will be ready in December of this year, according to local news reports. It will be located in the downtown plaza in front of the Santa Ana Catholic Church.

Once completed, the facility a will include several exercise options as well as areas to gather and socialize.

Work got underway on March 20, and organizers said the park project will be completed within 270 calendar days from the start date.

The construction company, Hernández and Martins S.A., is in charge of carrying out the first stage, after having participated and won public bid No. 2016LP-000005-01.

The first stage consists of demolitions, earth moving and leveling, and topographical studies and measurements.

Next will come the construction of a basketball court, a multipurpose area, a track, sidewalks, fountains, ramps, an exercise machine room, and a food area, as well as handrails, green areas and a synthetic soccer field.

Systems for drinking water, sewage, rainwater management, lighting, electrical outlets, electric wiring for the weight room, electrical posts and panels will also be installed over the course of this year.

The cost of the infrastructure for the recreational facility is estimated at over US$565,000 or 311 million colones, and will significantly boost access to recreational activities by local residents.
