Costa Rican Alvarez & Marin Corporation had confirmed the acquiring of the franchise Chuck E. Cheese’s some years back, a restaurant and entertainment center for children between the ages of 2-12, now the firm has confirmed that the first location is scheduled to open in October this year in Plaza Bratsi, Heredia.

A total of three sites will open between 2017 and 2019 in the metropolitan area. The first Chuck E. Cheese’s in Costa Rica will be the biggest in Central America, with close to 2000 square meters (21528 square feet) and an investment of almost $3 million USD.

Chuck E. Cheese’s is expected to generate at least 60 direct jobs. Although Alvarez & Marin had purchased the franchise in August 2013 they had not found a location that would comply with all the franchise’s requirements, which involves having between 80-120 parking spots and space for 450-500 chairs.

The concept involves kids’ playgrounds with between 80-90 different games, the restaurant specializes in pizza; and it is also known for having the Kid Check system in place, a seal with the same number for the kid and the adult in charge with the purpose that kids cannot leave the place with anyone else other than the adult that has the matching seal. All these characteristics make it also an ideal place for kids’ parties.

Alvarez & Marin is the corporation formed by Costa Rican politician Antonio Alvarez Desanti and his wife Nuria Marín Raventós, it was founded in 1982.

This is one of many other franchises that have already set up business in the country such as Starbucks and Johnny Rockets and others like IHOP that have recently announced their participation in the Costa Rican market
