The Costa Rican Coast Guard Service was able to intercept a speed boat in waters of the South Pacific which was carrying an important amount of drugs.

Officers who had been surveying and patrolling the area located the speed boat and after a chase they were finally able to stop it at 3:35 a.m. 150 kilometers southwest of the Quepos coast in Puntarenas.

Three men were arrested, two Colombians of last names Estupiñan and Alegria and a third one who was not carrying identification but said his last name was Cubero.

Authorities were working on verifying the suspects’ identities and seized 53 bags full of drug packets; the exact quantity of drugs found has not been confirmed by the authorities.

The actions of the coast guard service were carried out aboard the patrol ship Juan Rafael Mora Porras, which was donated by the United States.
