This is the sixth edition of the Costa Cali Fest, an initiative that brings together the Costa Rican and American culture, art and music.

Costa Cali Fest will have five presentations in different bars in Guanacaste and Puntarenas, Costa Rican and Californian artists will unite to deliver entertainment and great music to the attending public.

Through the Roots and Thicker than Thieves, both from California are the two bands invited to participate this year along with Brian Johnson Music.

The band Thicker than Thieves is actually formed by American and Costa Rican musicians; the band was born in 1999 and originally all its members were from San Diego, CA; when lead singer Corrick Watson visited Costa Rica he met guitar player Mauricio Mora and since then they began collaborating mixing traditional Jamaican reggae with Californian rock.

“This event is born as an exchange between Californian and Costa Rican bands, and the necessity of bringing together both countries through the music. We are doing this event in Costa Rica and then we are leaving to California to do shows there”, explained Mauricio Mora guitar player for Thicker than Thieves.

Although the participating bands have a reggae base there are different influences in their music, the attending public can expect variations including rock, jazz, gospel and funk.

The shows began yesterday March 29 at Nosara and will extend through Sunday, April 2:

April 1st: Jaco Walk Shopping Center, Jacó Beach, 6 p.m. free of charge
April 2nd: Tortilla Flats, Playa Dominical, South Pacific, 4 p.m. free of charge
