Costa Rica confirmed the highest number of new cases in a single day since the first case was detected in the country four months ago, 649 new cases were confirmed for Thursday, July 9th which brings the total number to 6,485, out of which 2,023 have already recovered.
120 people are currently hospitalized, 14 of them are in the intensive care unit with ages ranging between 43 and 82 years old.
The exponential acceleration in the number of daily cases will force the government to implement new measures, the same are being analyzed today and will be announced to the public tomorrow, Friday, July 9th.
The country has also registered 25 COVID-19 deaths of which 15 are men and 10 have been women.
Health authorities have informed they are working on the expansion of Covid-19 units in the different hospitals in the country, they are also preparing the East Tower of the Calderon Guardia
Hospital in case it needs to be used at some point for the attention of Covid-19 positive patients.
Most Covid-19 positive patients have been hospitalized at the CEACO hospital, formerly a physical rehabilitation facility that was remodeled to attend the needs of coronavirus patients with the purpose of keeping patients isolated.
