Costa Rica Green Airways will begin operating domestic flights in the country in November 2018, joining the current market operators, Sansa and Aerobell.

Green Airways, is being backed by CarmonAir Charter (operating in the Costa Rica since 2009) and will be offering flights to Tambor (Puntarenas), Nosara (Guanacaste) and Quepos (Puntarenas), leaving from the Juan Santamaria Airport. Initially they have confirmed flights to Tambor three times a day and rates starting at $98.00.

“We vouch for safety, transparency in communication and outstanding service (…). Costa Rica Green Airways selects pilots who have extensive experience in flying the beautiful tropical, yet sometimes adverse weather conditions of Costa Rica”, reads the company’s website.

Green Airways’ fleet includes the twin-engine Piper Seneca Turbo, “Our Seneca Turbo provides the reliability and redundancy of a twin-engine airplane needed for flying over mountains, over water or over other types of terrain Costa Rica has to offer. The Seneca has also proven its performance providing a safe, comfortable personal transportation or business travel to our clients”.

The Islander BN2A-8 planes, which offers great safety and comfort; the King Air Turbo Prop F-90 and their biggest plane is the Twin Otter with capacity for 19 people.

The company’s name comes from their commitment to sustainability, “for every passenger that flies with us we will plant a seed of endemic tree species around the Bongo and Ario rivers in Costa Rica”; they are also working towards getting their carbon neutral certification by 2019.

Their expectation is to add in the short term four other destinations: Puerto Jimenez, Golfito, Liberia and Tamarindo, in addition to this, their future plans involve having a private airport to fly travelers directly to Santa Teresa.
