Costa Rica National Soccer Team Will Meet USMNT in Friendly Match Saturday

The Costa Rica National Soccer Team will face the United States Male National Team on a friendly match scheduled for this Saturday, February 2, 2019 in California.

This will be the first match for La Sele under the direction of new head coach Gustavo Matosas, who called on several new faces for the upcoming friendly games, Matosas affirmed he saw “speed and slyness” in the young players, characteristics he wants to use in the midfield.
La Sele, began its preparation on January 21st and will continue working through January 31st , this day they will travel to San José, California for the match that will take place at Avaya Stadium.

Matosas is betting on a “much more intense” offensive game without neglecting the defensive line.

USMNT had its last match against Panama and took the victory 3-0; the team has shown a structured and organized game that seems to be paying off.

Costa Rica vs. USA will take place Saturday, February 2 at 2:50 p.m. (Costa Rica time). La Sele will have its next two friendlies on March 22 against Guatemala on the road and March 26 facing Jamaica at the Costa Rica National Stadium.

The 23 players called for La Sele are:

Goalies: Esteban Alvarado, Kevin Chamorro and Marco Madrigal
Defenders: Keysher Fuller, Yostin Salas, Jaikel Medina, Pablo Arboine, Francisco Calvo, Waylor Francis, Joseph Mora
Midfielders: José Miguel Cubero, Allan Cruz, Nestor Monge, David Guzman, José Alfaro, Barlon Sequeira, Ronaldo Araya, Marvin Loría, Jimmy Marín.
Attackers: José Guillermo Ortíz, Jean Scott, Yendrick Ruíz and Jonathan McDonald.
