The Ministry of Health in Costa Rica provided the daily update this Saturday, May 30 of Covid-19 cases, confirming 1,047 cases in the country, out of which 658 have already recovered, and 379 remain active.
The country registers at this point 10 deaths, while 17,686 people have tested negative for the virus. 15 people remain hospitalized and 4 of them in the intensive care unit.
Costa Rica’s main concern right now is how the pandemic is being handled in Nicaragua, since they have already reached community transmission phase.
Another sanitary concern is the situation at the Nicaraguan border where truck drivers have been stuck for several days now. The National Emergency Commission (CNE) delivered food and personal hygiene items as well as protective equipment to the close to 550 Central American truck drivers in Costa Rican territory that are awaiting a solution and a positive outcome of the negotiations between the different governments in the Central American Integration System; in the meantime, authorities have been unable to assist Costa Rican drivers that are at the other side of the border in Nicaraguan territory.
The number of Covid-19 positive cases has spiked this past week, however, many of the cases have been from people that were already in preventive isolation.
