Authorities of the Government and the Costa Rica Red Cross presented the operative and preventive actions that will be in place in order to reinforce the security during this 2018 holiday season.

The Public Police Force, Transit Police, Frontier Police, Aerial Surveillance, Coast Guard, Migration, National Emergency Commission, Firefighters, Park Rangers, 911 personnel and Red Cross complete the security bodies that will be reinforcing their operations over the next couple of weeks.

Michael Soto, Minister of Public Security, explained that actions will be carried out in two different ways, one with the objective of preventing crimes through the mega operations and through preventive activities. A total of 579 new officers will be reinforcing the different police bodies.

The National Emergency Commission has worked with different institutions to be ready for any emergency situation that may present themselves.

National Coast Guard Service has a total of 115 officers working and 23 vessels as well as ground support; 272 air surveillance officers will be working in the different airports; 500 officers of the Frontier Police are distributed in areas of access control; the Migratory police has 480 workers that will be supporting the work at frontiers and airports.

The traffic police will also be present in the routes leading towards touristic points and main roads, while Park Rangers have the mission of protecting wildlife at the different National Parks since the number of visitors increases considerably during this time of the year.

Authorities call on national and foreign tourists to take all necessary precautions, get information on the safety tips that should be followed at the different places visited and to respect the law.
