The Costa Rica campaign that received the recognition is #LeydeMierda (#ShitLaw) by OMD Costa Rica for Territorio de Zaguates and along with Garnier BBDO in the categories Utility/Public Service Award (Silver) and Best Event/Experiential Campaign (Gold)
#LeydeMierda was used as a way to raise awareness regarding the ineffective Law 7451 of Animal Protection, which is considered useless because it does not set adequate punishment for those that hurt animals. The slogan used was: “A law as useless as this, is only good for one thing” “Poop bags” were printed with the text of this law so they could be used to pick up dogs’ waste, a way of showing how useless the law was.
New legislation to protect animal welfare was passed by the Costa Rican congress in first debate.
