Costa Rica Will Have 410 Athletes in 27 Disciplines in Central America Sporting Games

The Central America Sporting Games will take place starting December 3 through the 17 in Managua, Nicaragua; and Costa Rica will be taking a delegation of 410 athletes to participate in 27 disciplines.

Basketball, boxing, wrestling, volleyball, soccer, softball, chess, surf, tennis, judo, baseball, rugby, are just part of the disciplines where Costa Rica will take part.

The National Olympic Committee (CON) is currently preparing everything to ensure that the country’s participation goes on smoothly, from accommodations and food to uniforms, gear and transportation as well as the proper registration of each athlete.

“The organization is running to finish some of the sites where the games will be held, we are a month away from the beginning of the Games and we are doing OK with our planning. The inscriptions and the attentions for our athletes and our methodological departments (doctors, physical therapists, nutrition and psychologists) everything is being coordinated and preparations are going well,” commented Alexander Zamora, chief of the Costa Rican delegation.

For the first time Surfing was included as part of the Olympic games, and Costa Rica has a lot of hopes set in its representation which includes many young athletes with experience in international competitions.

The Central American Sporting Games are one of the qualification events towards Tokyo 2020 which will have the participation of over 11,000 athletes in an event that will be held between July 24 and August 9.
