Costa Rica will host biggest e-sports tournament in the region

The Quantum Dot Summer Cup, will gather gamers from the Central America region and will take place from March 24th through May 7.

The event is organized by Region Central Gaming , the event will give out cash prizes adding up to $4,000.00 USD among the winners in the different categories and additional prizes by sponsors: Samsung, HP, Logitech, Linksys, Forza, Redbull, Creta, Avermedia, Intelec, Nirvana Producciones, Riotoro, G2A and The Road Tech.

The Quantum Dot Summer Cup will have three different open tournaments, League of Legends and Hearthstone, open to Central American teams and players and Overwatch exclusive for Costa Rica teams.

The main tournament is League of Legends which will give out $3,000.00 in cash ($2,000 first place and $1,000 second place) and will cover the traveling expenses of the first two places. The winner of Hearthstone will receive $500.00, runner-up $200.00 and will also get their trip expenses covered. The first place in Overwatch will earn $300.00.

The registration has a cost of $30 per team for LOL, $10 for Hearthstone and $60 for Overwatch; if the number of teams is high the amounts given out in prizes will increase.

“The expectation that we have with this cup is to establish a start, not just to prepare teams of the Central America region in the professional e-sports, but also so that the region is considered in the production of high-quality events,” explained organizer Edson Arauz.

So far, the participation of 32 teams is expected, the different competitions will be held online and only the final will be on-site during the Cosparty convention at the Antigua Aduana building.
