Costa Rica Will Host the Pan American Judo Championship

This Tuesday the Costa Rica Judo Federation held the press conference to offer details on the Pan-American Judo Championship that kicks off this Thursday at 9 a.m. and will continue through Sunday, April 22 at Pedregal in San Antonio de Belen, Heredia.

“We are very happy, this is one of the four most important events in the continent and organizing it in Costa Rica is a huge pride”, commented Dudley Lopez, President of the Costa Rica Judo Federation.

Among the competitors that are participating in the event are Olympic champions and World champions; athletes flew in from countries such as Brazil, Argentina, Cuba, Panama, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, to name a few, all of them are staying at the Wyndham Herradura Hotel.

This is the first classification event in route to the Tokyo Olympics.

In total 227 athletes are registered in individual competitions and 70 registered in the Katas category.

“We know Costa Rica is already recognized as a country with great capacity to organize events of this magnitude, we took the preparation seriously, taking on the challenge this represents and the joy we have as Costa Ricans to receive all foreign athletes”, expressed Lopez.
