Costa Rican Authorities Seize 1,552 Kilograms of Marijuana and 915 Kilograms of Cocaine

Costa Rican border police officers seized this week a total of 1,552 kilograms of marijuana that was hidden close to the estuaries, in the Sierpe water lands in the county of Osa in Puntarenas.
The police found 60 packages hidden under black plastic, nearby they located three men, two Costa Ricans, and a Nicaraguan who attempted to escape but were eventually caught and placed under arrest.

In a different operation, the Coast Guard Service with the support of a US surveillance plane spotted two vessels, the first one 50 kilometers from Punta Burica in Puntarenas, when the crew noticed the presence of the police they tried to escape and threw the packages to the sea, however, the police managed to intercept the boat aboard which were four people, two Colombian citizens, an Ecuatorian and a Costa Rican. In total, they were carrying 415 packages of cocaine with an approximate weight of 1 kilogram each.

The second vessel was intercepted 70 kilometers into the sea also in the area of Punta Burica, this one was carrying 500 packages of cocaine also with an approximate weight of 1 kilogram each. Two Costa Ricans were detained.
