Costa Rican biker Kenneth Tencio “Pollis” took a historic second place at the UCI BMX World Championships which took place in Chengdu, China.

The first place went to Justin Dowell from the USA, who earned 92.20 points over Tencio’s 88.90, the third place went to Australian Brandon Loupo with a score of 88.72.

This win and the high score put Tencio one step closer to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“Sub-World Champion 2018, what a joy! First I thank God, I still feel like this is a dream, Costa Rica a small country among powerful countries, if you want you can, I was going after the first place, but I cannot complain about getting the best result in my career, I hope this helps motivate others to work hard for their dreams, nothing is impossible, and I will continue working hard, this is the first step that gets me closer to the 2020 Olympics”, posted Tencio after his achievement.

Back in April Tencio also won second place in the FISE BMX Freestyle World Series in Japan, also a historical achievement since it was the first time a Costa Rican took the podium in a FISE competition. In March he also crowned himself as the champion of the BMX Competition at the X-Knights for fourth consecutive year.
