The UN gave Costa Rican company Scosa, part of Florex Group (Grupo Florex), a global award for its inclusive employment policies.
Scosa has been providing employment opportunities to the disabled population for over ten years and currently employs 12 workers in different areas: administrative, technical and others.

The Association of Companies for Development presented the candidacy of Florex Group to receive this recognition. The information of the company was evaluated alongside that of other companies worldwide that have similar politics. Florex is a developer and supplier of environmentally friendly cleaning supplies.

The recognition was awarded by the Secretary of State for the Rights of People with Disabilities with headquarters in New York during the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the approval of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Scosa is also part of other government programs “My first job” and “Get employed”.

“Our motivation is the value of each person and the necessity of supporting people with disabilities for their incorporation in the work force; these are not just generous, helpful and attentive people they are happy and exceptional collaborators. This is the best retribution we have as a company, to see them fulfilled”, said Carlos Araya president of Florex Group.

This was the only company to receive this recognition in Central America. Those people interested in working at Florex Group can participate through the Ministry of Labor where they can receive training and be considered for different positions according to their abilities, limitations and the characteristics of the available jobs.

Other companies in Costa Rica have made changes in their employment policies to be more inclusive and provide work options to people with disabilities, among them, Taco Bell and BAC Bank.
