“Two Mundos” is the name of the exhibit that will be inaugurated in New York’s exclusive gallery reGeneration Furniture and that will be inaugurated Monday, May 22 and will be open to the public through June 15.

This exhibit will showcase the talent of Costa Rican Gabriela Valenzuela-Hirsh and works by a group of Costa Rican designers and some foreigners with many years of living in the country and that have worked under her mentorship, the exhibit will include paintings, sculptures, furniture pieces and decorations.

“We are presenting our work as a group, we all contributed and this is more a group collaboration, no egos involved“, said Valenzuela.

Gabriela Valenzuela lived in New York for three decades and she is presenting her work again in the Big Apple after almost ten years of absence.

reGeneration Furniture’s site cites: “The contemporary pieces on view in “Two Mundos” merge the modern design sensibilities of the sophisticated urban world with the sensual world of the natural paradise she now inhabits. Masculine and feminine energies, tranquility and chaos come together in beautiful balance in the work, all created with organic, eco-conscious materials”.

“We are telling a story about Costa Rica. For example, the leather modules are imitations of a plan that grows in the Costa Rican jungle, the wood used for the sculptures was picked up in properties where the trees had fallen. All pieces presented are based on the Costa Rican lifestyle and in honor of its nature”, explained Gabriela Valenzuela.

Valenzuela was the creative director of the fashion company Go Silk. Other designers include Oscar Ruiz-Schmidt, fashion designer and creative brand director for Obra Gris; Muriel Haerens a Belgian native who lives in Costa Rica and designs exclusive wood furniture; Bárbara a Cuevas textile designer who specializes in fabric intervention; María José Núñez, artisan and industrial designer who was born in El Salvador and was raised in Costa Rica; architects Dimay Valenzuela and Esteban Cardona; pottery artists Viviana Araya and Mariela Salazar and designer Bernadette Prada who is Costa Rican but lives in Colorado, USA.
