Contrary to speculations in the press that raised from his limited participation in the main lineup of Real Madrid since Zidane’s exit as a trainer and the arrival of Thibaut Courtois, Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas renewed his contract with “Los Blancos” for another season.

The contract ties Navas to Real Madrid through June 2021.

Since the arrival of Santiago Solari as a head coach the Costa Rican has been replaced as main goal keeper by Coutois; however, the negotiations for the new contract had begun since July 2019 and apparently the agreement had been reached since late November, the signing of the contract didn’t come until this new year.

Navas arrived to “Los Blancos” in 2014 and his contract was valid through mid-2020. He has won three Champions League titles with the team and was named the best goalkeeper of the 2017-2018 season of Champions.

The Costa Rican signed for a total of over $5.5 million USD per season.
