The Costa Rican Ministry of Health confirmed that the total cases of Covid-19 in the country is up to 158 which includes 141 Costa Ricans and 17 foreigners, 68 women and 90 men.
The government also announced new sanitary measures that aim to battle the spread of the virus, these include:

Complete closure of all beaches
Mandatory closure of all churches and places of religious gatherings
In attendance to the state of emergency there will be sanitary vehicle restriction from 10 p.m. through 5 a.m. starting March 24th. Exceptions and restrictions to this measure will be made public tomorrow. Those that do not follow this restriction will be fined.
As of tomorrow, March 24th all foreigners who have legal residency in the country or regular status and who choose to leave the country will automatically lose their migratory status.

“We reiterate that the government is doing everything possible to protect everyone, especially the vulnerable population, but every person ha a responsibility, we need each one of you to continue doing its part. Everyone should be at home, especially senior citizens (…)”, said the Minister of Health, Daniel Salas.

“We are at a key moment to reduce the impact of the transmission in the country. Let’s follow the guidelines given by the health authorities and be responsible as citizens, let’s help those who need it most and not expose vulnerable people”, commented President Carlos Alvarado.

135 of the positive cases correspond to adults, 16 to senior citizens and 7 minors.

A total 1533 people have tested negative.

Seven people remain hospitalized, three in intensive care.
