At around midnight this Sunday, September 23, 2018, representatives of the Government and Labor Unions decided to take a break from their “preliminary dialogue” sessions and announced they will continue their meeting on Monday at 3 p.m.

This was the fourth day of dialogue between both parties; no information has been released of what has been discussed or the progress made; Steven Nuñez, Minister of Labor only stated that the process has been “productive” and the Government maintains its position of reaching a solution through dialogue.

“Dialogue allows us to find areas of consensus, it is now up to each of the parties to consider what has been discussed and we will meet again on Monday”.

The labor unions confirm the protest will continue today and Monday and for indefinite time until an agreement is reached, in fact, they are organizing another massive march for this Wednesday, September 26, in which they expect to surpass the participation they had back on September 12, when a large number of people, estimated in over 100 thousand, took the streets of San Jose and marched to the Legislative Assembly.

The resolution of the Labor Court of the First Judicial Circuit of San Jose, ruling the strike illegal for the employees of the National Production Council was informed this Saturday, and it’s the first resolution of 32 requests presented by different institutions; however, the labor unions maintained their position and stated they would not be “intimidated” by this sentence, which they will appeal; they then called on their supporters to maintain the movement alive, specially at a moment where they feel strong and maintain dialogue with representatives of the Government.
