Costa Rican World Champion Hanna Gabriels is in Detroit ready to face U.S. World Champion Claressa Shields this Friday, June 22.

Both fighters  successfully made weight, weighing in at 159.6 lbs just below the 160 lbs limit.

The Costa Rican is the current WBO (World Boxing Organization) and WBA (Word Boxing Association) Female World Super Welterweight Champion (154 lbs.); while Shields is a former Olympic gold medalist and now WBC (World Boxing Council and IBF ( International Boxing Federation) World Female Super Middleweight Champion (168 lbs.); fighters agreed to the 160 lbs catch-weight and will be disputing the vacant IBF and WBA Female World Titles.

Hanna Gabriels is Costa Rica’s first (female or male) World Champion, to hold world titles in two weight divisions. Gabriels is 35 years-old, 5’7 (170 cm) and has a record of 18 wins , 1 loss, 1 draw.

Claressa “T-Rex” Shields is 23 years of age, a native of Flint, Michigan, she is 5’8” (173 cm) and has a short but perfect professional record of 5 wins, she began fighting professionally in 2016, Shields had a successful amateur career, winning gold medals at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, becoming the first American boxer (female or male) to win consecutive Olympic medals.

The fight will be shown live by Showtime Boxing in the US, while in Costa Rica Multimedios will be airing it in channel 44 (open national television), or channel 8 in cable services Tigo, Kölbi TV and Telecable,73 in Cabletica and 130 in Sky at 8 p.m.
