Costa Rican police detained this Tuesday a Colombian man as suspect of providing the drugs to a national drug trafficking organization who was moving the product to different parts of Central America via cargo trucks.

The Public Ministry and the Organism of Judiciary Investigation (OIJ) conducted 11 searches in Escazu (San Jose), Belen, Sarapiquí, Santo Domingo (Heredia, and Sarchi, Naranjo, Atenas and Grecia (Alajuela).

The Colombian, Edison Rivera Mosquera was arrested in the luxury house he lived in located in Loma Real, Guachipelin, Escazu. Three Costa Rican men of last names Murcia Torres, Murcia Villagra and Rodriguez Soto were also apprehended in Naranjo.

Rivera owns other properties in Sarapiquí and another in Bosques de Doña Rosa, Cariari.

Police seized three vehicles, a Toyota Hilux, an Audi and a BMW X6, along with $248,000 USD in cash.

Apparently the two Costa Rican men were the leaders of a group that concealed the drug (cocaine and marijuana) in cargo trucks to be transported to Central America.

The group was being investigated since April 2016.
