“Muerte Súbita” (Sudden Death), is the name of the Costa Rican short film directed by Kenneth Sanabria and selected to compete in the 14th edition of the New York Latino Film Festival.

The New York Latino Film Festival is organized by HBO and will take place October 11 through October 15.

“Muerte Súbita” will be competing in the unconventional category “Midnight: Experimental/Off Beat” along with other 4 international productions(Atonement, What a Fright, The Thing Inside and The Sweetest Kiss).

“For me, it is very important to be present at this festival, since its very competitive The category in which the short film will compete brings together productions that are unconventional, and for me that is a good thing. Sudden Death doesn’t have a define genre, it has a little of everything”, explained Kenneth Sanabria.

Sudden Death is 15 minutes long and it tells the story of a couple that tragically lose their baby and the circumstances that surrounded the loss, which in part had to do with the couple’s relationship. The cast includes Maikol Dionisio Morales in the role of Rolando and Fiorella Fernández as Amanda, both Costa Rican. The short film was released worldwide in August 26 in the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival Awards, where it received an award for best short film director and best short film script.

Sanabria is waiting for the registrations to open for the Costa Rica Film Festival to also register the short film and exhibit the production in the country. It will also be part in the Eu Claire World Film Festival to take part in Wisconsin September 28th-October 2nd.
