Costa Rican World Champion Hanna Gabriels Will Defend Her Title July 17

Costa Rican World Champion, Hanna Gabriels, will defend her WBA Super Welterweight Championship on Wednesday, July 17 against Argentinian Abril Vidal at the National Stadium in San Jose, Costa Rica.

This is part of a three-part Broadway Boxing summer series promoted by DiBella Entertainment and tht will be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass, the world’s leading digital subscription service for combat sports.

This is the fourth defense for Gabriels, who has a record of 19 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw. 20-year-old Vidal, on the other hand is undefeated with a record of 8 wins .

In her last fight Gabriels defeated Sarah Dwyer via unanimous decision in defense of her WBA title, in her last fight on January 26. Overall, Gabriels is a three-time, two-division world champion. She previously held the WBO title at welterweight and twice at super welterweight.

Prior to this victory, In June 2018, Gabriels became the only person to ever knock down unified world champion Claressa Shields, despite losing a unanimous decision.

Gabriels definitely has experience playing in her favor as she goes into the ring with Vidal who only has 15 months as a professional boxer. In her last fight, Vidal earned a unanimous decision victory against the experienced three time world title challenger Yamila Reynoso.
