According to an article in La Nacion, all economic activities in Costa Rica continue to grow and the financial services and insurance sectors have grown the most.
The good performance of the economy has prompted Costa Rican’s and companies doing business here to seek more credit and exchange currency in higher volumes,
According to information released on June 11, 2012 by the Central Bank, economic growth was strong in April and increased 7.2% over the same month last year, which marks the fifth consecutive monthly increase during 2012.
Financial services and insurance sectors increased by 8.4% in April over the same month last year, almost five percentage points more than they grew in January 2011. Businesses, including call centers and financial services continue to grow and fuel demand in the commercial banking sector for;
-Currency exchange
-Currency arbitrage
-Credit lines
-Underwriting credit
Plus, all banks continue to see growth with collection of fees for credit card services. The manufacturing sector showed consecutive increases this year and in April slowed to 14% growth. According to data from the Central Bank, the construction sector is still recovering and in April increased by 4.4% over the same month last year.
Hopefully, the economic growth will remain consistent and keep pace with the demand for additional credit.
