Costa Rica’s National University Has New Athletics Track Considered Best in the Region

The National University of Costa Rica (UNA) recently inaugurated an athletics track that is considered the best in Central America.

The athletics track is made with tartan, an all-weather synthetic track surfacing, it is a category 2 track and field track that can be used for continental tournaments and has the characteristics to be certified by the International Athletics Federation.

The track can be used for long jump, triple jump, javelin throw, hammer throw, pole vault and high jump, among others, it can also be adapted for paralympic sports.

“Its something the UNA has invested in and the infrastructure will be at the service of national athletes”, mentioned Braulio Sánchez, director of the School of Science of Social Movement and Health of the National University.

UNA and the Athletics Federation already reached an agreement to use this new facility as the training center for national teams and athletes in formation.
