Costa Rica proudly welcomes the World Veterinary Association (WVAC) to the new Convention Center in Heredia, on April 27-30, “Life Connects All. Pura Vida!”
There will be 1,500 veterinarians in attendance, with specialties ranging from wild animals to family pets, large animals to tiny critters — the full range of state-of-the-art animal medicine and care. The programing will focus on continuing education in veterinary medicine, with three areas of education: Veterinary Public Health, Academia and Investigative Medicine, and Clinical Veterinary Medicine. The conference will include lectures by experts in their field, workshops with world renowned veterinarians, and opportunities to get to know some of the international giants of the veterinary field.
Said Costa Rica’s President Carlos Alvarado about the April Conference, “WVAC-2019 is going to be a world class event. It will allow participants to discover the latest breakthroughs of their profession and get to know the best products of the veterinary field.”

Perhaps the real star of the convention will be the Centro de Convenciones itself. The Center sits on a 10-hectare property in Heredia, eight kilometers from the Juan Santamaria International Airport, and features 3 exhibit halls, 6 meeting rooms, press room, VIP rooms, and a kitchen/dining area. Everything an international quality convention center should encompass. There is room for 5,000 attendees.

“Our goal is to develop a Convention Center with international quality standards, services, and effective operations. For us, it was key to successfully complete the pre-operational stage and start operations the same way,” commented Alvaro Rojas, General Manager of the new Convention Center.

The veterinarians will enter the stunning architectural building via what has been dubbed “The Drum”, a drum-shaped tower which honors Costa Rica’s indigenous people and native wildlife through depictions of the country’s amazing biodiversity and lush landscape. There are five pre-Columbian stone spheres on display, the stone spheres that have been attracting and puzzling archeologists and researchers for centuries, as their origin is completely mysterious. The art and sculpture of various Costa Rican master artists is on display in the Convention Hall, allowing the visiting doctors a small taste of Costa Rica’s culture and heritage.
The WVAC-2019 this month promises to be a chance to show off the new Convention Center and the country it represents to its very best advantage. It will offer veterinarians from all over the world the opportunity to improve their knowledge of Veterinary Science and Practice.

Costa Rica boasts 5% of the world’s biodiversity, and is making efforts to preserve and develop it through events such as this. Costa Rica is the happiest place on earth for both people and animals this month.
