Costa Rica’s Short Film Festival invites local producers to submit their works from now until Saturday, March 25. Costa Rican nationals and residents alike are invited to submit their short films to the event which is quickly growing in popularity.

The festival’s second edition will hold screenings from June 23-25 at the Costa Rican Journalists Association office across from Parque La Sabana and next to Soda La Tapia’s La Sabana outlet.

The festival will feature Costa Rican-produced short films on social or cultural topics of current importance, and that were made in 2015 or 2016.

All productions by independent producers, students, universities, nonprofit groups, advertising agencies, public relations, and marketing and digital media companies alike.

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: ShortFilmCR Grand Prix, best short fiction, best documentary, best leading actress, best digital animation, best main actor, best corporate short film, best video clip, best supporting actress, best production, best original music, best short by students, best supporting actor, best Internet production, most popular, and the best poster.

ShortFilmCR President Rafael Álvarez Vega encouraged those interested in the event to visit their Facebook page to stay informed of the festival.

Last year, the short film “Pique Tico”, directed by Bernardo Alfaro and Pablo Solis, won the prize for “Best Digital Animation”.

And “Day of Fury” was the GrandPrix winner at the festival’s first edition.
