Costa Rica registered 2,781 new cases of Covid-19 this Thursday, April 29, a new record for the country.

Under these circumstances, the Government has announced new restrictions that will go into effect May 3 and will continue through May 9.
The new restrictions include:’

The closure of “non-essential” commercial businesses that offer attention to the public from May 3 through May 9th. This includes for example: gyms, beauty parlors, esthetic centers, among others. For the complete list go to: presidencia.go.cr/alertas

Vehicular transit restriction goes back into effect 1 day during the week in 45 counties in the Central Region. This restriction will remain in effect through May 31st, being:

San José: San José, Escazú, Desamparados, Aserrí, Mora, Goicoechea, Santa Ana, Alajuelita, Vázquez de Coronado, Puriscal, Tibás, Moravia, Montes de Oca, Curridabat, Tarrazú, Acosta, Turrubares, Dota y León Cortés.
Cartago: Cartago, Paraíso, La Unión, Alvarado, Oreamuno, Jiménez, Turrialba y El Guarco.
Alajuela: Alajuela, Poás, Atenas, Grecia, Sarchí, Palmares, Naranjo, San Ramón y Alfaro Ruiz.
Heredia: Heredia, Barva, Santo Domingo, Santa Bárbara, San Rafael, San Isidro, Belén, Flores y San Pablo.
The restriction will apply by plate number as follows:
Monday: Cars with plate number ending on 1 & 2 (are restricted)
Tuesday: Cars with plate number ending on 3 & 4 (are restricted)
Wednesday: Cars with plate number ending on 5 & 6 (are restricted)
Thursday: Cars with plate number ending on 7 & 8 (are restricted)
Friday: Cars with plate number ending on 9 & 0 (are restricted)

Weekends:

Plates ending on odd numbers (1,3,5,7,9) are restricted for transit on Saturday.
Plates ending on an even number (0,2,4,6,8) are restricted Sunday.
Night restriction remains from 9 p.m. through 5 a.m.
