Buenos Aires, Apr 16 (EFE).– Five people between the ages of 20 and 30 died early Saturday and five others remain unconscious at three Buenos Aires hospitals after attending an electronic music festival in the Argentine capital’s Costa Salguero events center, medical officials said.

The five hospitalized individuals were on respirators after apparently consuming drugs at the Time Warp festival, the director of the Emergency Medical Assistance System, Alberto Crescenti, said.

“We have to wait for the autopsy to see what substances they consumed and what combination,” he told TN television.

The patients have cardiac arrhythmias, and emergency personnel are currently battling to bring down their extremely high temperatures of around 42 C (107.5 F).

The Time Warp electronic music festival began in Germany, but it has also taken place in several other countries and was being held in Argentina for the third time this year.

Organizers canceled Saturday night’s show, the last of the two-day festival, in the wake of the deaths.

Costa Salguero is a large center located in Buenos Aires’ Palermo neighborhood that is a venue for sporting events and company meetings and conventions. EFE
