No, it wasn’t your phone, it wasn’t your computer or your Internet provider, Facebook actually went down, and the virtual community in Costa Rica and around the world didn’t know how to react for a while, until, they turned to Twitter.
Since about 9:30 a.m. Costa Rica time, both the Facebook site and the App are failing to load in what is apparently a global crash of their system; when you go to their page it shows blank, while the App is not working for many or showing an outdated feed.
Facebook has over one billion users from all over the world, with over 500 thousand comments posted every minute (according to The Social Skinny).
In Costa Rica, Facebook is the preferred social network, back in 2015 it registered over 2.5 million users.
The reason of the technological failure has yet not been released, but it certainly made a lot of people panic, while others reminisced about what life was like before Facebook and before social networks in general.
Some Instagram users have also reported problems.
Check out some of the most creative Memes that users shared on Twitter.
