On the same day Costa Rica will celebrate 193 years of independence, iconic rock band Faith No More will visit for the first time in their history, which dates back to 1981. Faith No More will play a live concert on the grounds of Viva Park, a former racetrack that was acquired by media leviathan Grupo Nacion a few years ago.

Although Faith No More is mostly remembered by their song Epic, which received massive airplay on MTV at at a time when music videos were still being played by that network, the band has been busy since 2009 with many live performances and the acclaimed album Sol Invictus.

The Epic video was also at the center of an animal rights controversy due to its depiction of a fish flopping out of water; sadly, too much focus was placed on the fish, which was only out of water for a few seconds; filming and slow-motion camera effects made it seem as if the aquatic creature agonized. The aquarium fish was rumored to have been given to the band by Icelandic musician Bjork.

The band, which was on hiatus from 1998 to 2009, will perform in Costa Rica with a lineup that include many original and longtime members plus a new and masterful guitar player. In the last few years, Faith No More has achieved cult status due to their longevity and a resurgence of interest in the musical styles of the 1990s, which many consider to have been one of the most creative decades in the history of 20^th century rock music.

Faith No More 2.0 will play in Costa Rica as part of a Central and South America concert tour in support of Sol Invictus and their classic material such as We Care a Lot, Epic, Midlife Crisis, and their soulful rendition of Easy Like Sunday Morning. Tickets will first go on sale through eTicket.cr on July 8^th, and the event will be held in the evening of Independence Day in Costa Rica, which is celebrated on September 15^th.
