The Costa Rica National Museum, the Contemporary Art and Design Museum, the Calderón Guardia Museum and the Center of National Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Youth are part of the cultural offer of the first Art City Tour of 2017 to take place this Thursday, February 9th.
The Art City Tour is promoted under the slogan “Por amor a Chepe” (For love of “Chepe”, Chepe being the colloquial term used by ticos to refer to the capital city of San José). The event allows the audience to participate in guided night tours of the museums, galleries, cultural centers, design stores and historic buildings in the center of San Jose, in the areas of Amón, Otoya, Los Yoses and Sabana.
According to GAM Cultural, organizer of the event, there will be different options of transportation for the tours: bus, bike and by foot. The tours begin at 5 p.m. and will extend through 9 p.m.
“The participation of 17 spaces distributed in five different routes by bus are part of a multiple option we are providing for this edition of the Art City Tour, this is an opportunity to value the cultural dynamic content of our capital city”, stated Henry Bastos from GAM Cultural. The Routes are: Credomatic, Escalante, Hagamos Ciudad, Sabana and Starbucks, each of them takes the attending public through different cultural spaces.
The Contemporary Art and Design Museum will present an exhibit of the twelve oldest stores in the center of San Jose, businesses that have belonged to the same families for generations; among these: Lehmann Library, La Gloria Store, Scaglietti Tailor Shop, among others.
The Calderón Guardia Museum will be offering a selection of paintings and art works from different artists, among them the collection “Musas” by Fernando Carballo, and photography exhibits by Eduardo Libby .
Theater, a variety of art exhibits, history and more, are part of what the public can expect to find at the Art City Tour 2017.
