First Iron-Tri of Central America will happen Sunday

The first 226 km (140 miles) Iron-Tri of Central America will take place this Sunday, October 23 at the beautiful and exuberant Puerto Viejo in Limon; the competition involves 3.8 km (2.36 mi) of swimming, 180 km (112 mi) of cycling and 42.2 km (26.2 mi) of running.

The event is organized by the company Multireto who has always organized the event TicoMan (Costa Rican Ironman); this is the ninth edition of the competition which has always been a half ironman, but this is the first time they will run the full length of an Ironman triathlon which is the 226km; this event is the triathlon event with more editions in the country.

The Iron-Tri expects the participation of close to 300 competitors, according to Multireto almost half of them will be doing the full distance. Other options include the TicoMan Half and the SprinTico (37.7 km // 23.42 mi). Both the Iron-Tri and the TicoMan Half are open for athletes 18 years old through +60 in different age groups. The SprinTico is open for competitors 15 years of age and up. The alternative of relay mix (members of different gender), relay open (members of same gender) and Ticoman relay adventure (with the use of Kayak or surfboard members of any age and gender) are also part of this event.

The TicoMan full length and TicoMan half will kick off Sunday at 5:45 a.m. while the SprinTico will start at 7 a.m. The event is expected to conclude by 11 a.m.
