For the first time ever the Latin America PGA Tour 2017 has a stop in Costa Rica

For the first time in history Costa Rica will be hosting the Latin American PGA Tour from May 1-7, 2017 at Conchal Reserve, Guanacaste.

The Essential Costa Rica Classic will have the presence of 144 golfers from 26 countries, and it is organized by the Latin American PGA Tour in alliance with the Costa Rican Golf Federation and production company RPMTV which will handle the logistics of the event; the event is also sponsored by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute through the nation branding “Essential Costa Rica”, with the purpose of taking this opportunity to promote the beautiful area of Conchal as a touristic destination.

The Latin American PGA Tour was created in 2012 by PGA Tour in collaboration with promoters, clubs and national golf federations of the Latin American region; currently it includes 18 official dates that take place in 12 countries.

2017 includes: Argentina, Costa Rica, Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, Guatemala, Uruguay, Mexico, Honduras, Panama, Dominican Republic and Peru. Participating athletes earn points to climb positions in the world ranking and have the possibility of classifying to other tournaments and events worldwide.

The president of the Costa Rican Golf Federation Mauricio Musmanni made emphasize on the great number of benefits this type of events bring to the country and to the promotion of the sport. The host country automatically is assigned 30 slots, giving the opportunity to the best golf players to continue their career as professional golfers.

It is a great opportunity to position Costa Rica as a suitable destination for this level of events, ensuring added value experiences for the participants, their companions and the general public in hopes that they will recommend Costa Rica to their colleagues, family and friends as a destination to visit in their next vacation”, said Alejandro Castro, Marketing director of the Costa Rica Tourism Institute.
