The Fishing Tournament Marina Pez Vela Open kicked off today, April 12 at Quepos, Costa Rica and will extend through April 14.

The billfish team event will crown the team that tallies the most billfish points during the tournament. Prizes pay down to third place (first, second, and third). The tournament will award trophies, cash, and prizes to the team(s) that score the most accumulated points for marlin and sailfish,” said the Marina coordinators.

Trophy and cash prize will be awarded to the angler weighing in the largest Dorado, Yellow fin Tuna or Wahoo with a minimum weight of 15 lbs.

Team registration fee was of $2500.00 with the team consisting on 1 to 6 anglers.

Competition will begin April 13 and April 14 at 6 a.m. (lines-in at 8 a.m.) and ends at 4 p.m. each day (lines-out), the event comes to a conclusion on Saturday at 7 p.m. The organization announced the participation of between 100 to 150 people (22+ boats), the final registration was taking place today at the Marina Pez Vela.
