For the first time, Costa Rica will present a concert of electronic, experimental and synthesizer music, as well as a workshop on creating such sounds, for children, announced the San José-based Alianza Francesa, or French Alliance, the French government’s cultural center.

The event organizers describe the event as involving “two semi-human and semi-plant characters will give a concert in the forest in which they meet different animals and mysterious creatures. This is the Forrrrrrrest show, an innovative proposal that seeks the active participation of children on stage.”

French artists Hypo & EDH will perform electronic, experimental and synthesizer music, accompanied by sound effects performed by viewers. Meanwhile, images of nature are projected on the walls  to simulate a forest environment and giving the sense of being enveloped in a natural atmosphere.

The concert will take place on September 3 at the Teatro de la Aduana in downtown San José for children over 5 years. Admission is free. There will be two presentations, the first at 11:00 a.m. and the second at 3:00 p.m.

In addition, the artists will give a music production workshop on Saturday, September 2 at the French Alliance. Attendees will produce their own special effects and record them with the help of professionals in sound engineering. Advance registration is required for the workshop, which is offered at 2:30 and again at 3:30 p.m.

This show is part of the Capitaine Futur program, created by the French cultural center La Gaîté Lyrique, an institution located in the heart of Paris dedicated to artistic and technological creation and innovation.
