The 74th edition of the Golden Globes awards presented by Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) took place Sunday night at the Hotel Beverly Hilton Los Angeles.

Jimmy Fallon parodied the opening scene from musical “La La Land” – the favorite of the night with seven nominations – to kick off Golden Globes 2017.

Fallon imitated Ryan Gosling, the leading actor of the critically-acclaimed musical directed by Damien Chazelle, changing the lyrics of the main song. The comedian was accompanied by dance partner Justin Timberlake, who imitated Emma Stone.

Actors and actresses presenting the awards included Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck, Kristen Bell, Annette Bening, Pierce Brosnan, Naomi Campbell, Jessica Chastain, Gal Gadot, Hugh Grant, John Hamm, Chris Hemsworth, Felicity Jones, John Legend, Ryan Reynolds, Sting, Emma Stone, Carrie Underwood, Vince Vaughn, Carl Weathers, Kristen Wiig, Casey Affleck, Sofia Vergara and Diego Luna.

Ryan Gosling won the award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy at the 74th Golden Globe Awards. The award, the first of the sort in Gosling’s career, recognizes the actor’s performance in “La La Land”. Other contenders for the trophy included Colin Farrell (“Lobster”), Hugh Grant (“Florence Foster Jenkins”), Jonah Hill (“War Dogs”) and Ryan Reynolds (“Deadpool”)

Claire Foy won the Golden Globe for best actress in a dramatic series for “The Crown” at the 74th edition of the awards presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA)

Tracee Ellis Ross won the Golden Globe for best actress in a comedy or musical series for “Black-ish” . The award, presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), last year selected actress Gina Rodriguez for her performance in “Jane The Virgin”.

Dutch film director Paul Verhoeven’s film “Elle” (France) triumphed today  with the prize for the best foreign film. The other contenders were “Divines” (France), “El Viajero” (a co-production between France and Iran), “Toni Erdmann” (Germany) and “Neruda” (Chile), by Pablo Larraín

“Atlanta”  won the Golden Globe for the best comedy or musical series

Viola Davis was selected as Best Supporting Actress for he role in “Fences”

“Zootopia” was the Best Animated Film
